The UV LED series are deep UV light emitting diodes.

Provided in component form in TO-48 packages, these diodes emit at 255 or 280nm with average output power of 0.1-0.5mW (wavelength dependent). They are pulsed devices that operate with a 1% duty cycle.

A power supply/controller is not provided with these, but can be provided on request. Laser 2000 recommends using these devices with its standard range of laboratory and oem style laser diode & LED mounts.

An actively cooled mount (part#: 226) allows for a wide range of different Laser and LED packages to be mounted and connected to a suitable power supply and controller. Alternatively, a simple oem mount can be provided that is specific to the UVLED series (part #: PS-LED-Mount) along with soldering instructions for connection to a suitable power supply.

These devices are broadband emitters with linewidths in the range of 20nm. Average power stability of these devices is dependent on the quality of their temperature and drive current controller stability. The use of high quality drive electronics and temperature control will enhance the amplitude stability and reduce optical noise significantly.

These devices are highly divergent and astigmatic (part# suffix:-FLAT). Lensed versions are available that collimate the output (part# suffix: -HEMI), or which focus the output (part# suffix: - BALL).

UV-LED lifetime is dependent on drive current, duty cycle, and the temperature of operation. When operated within the specified parameters, the models operating at 255nm wavelengths have lifetimes in the region of 100-200 hours, whereas those at 280nm have lifetimes in the 1000-2000 hour range.
