The picosecond pulsed diode lasers of the LDH series are compact, easy-to-use and need no alignment of the beam.
The laser heads produce light pulses as short as 50 ps FWHM at repetition rates from single shot to 80 MHz. They are available at wavelengths between 375 and 1990 nm, with adjustable (average) power up to 2 mW. Selected wavelengths can emit peak powers up to 1 W.
The pulse widths match the time resolution characteristics of standard detectors perfectly, but at one tenth the price of typical Ti:Sa or Argon-ion lasers. The LDH Series offer the benefits of low cost and compact size in an integrated turn-key system, together with the high repetition rates needed for fast Time- Correlated Single Photon Counting (TCSPC). These capabilities enable applications beyond the research lab, in areas such as bio analytics, biochemistry, genetics, semiconductor characterisation and quality control.
The LDH-P laser heads can be driven either by the PDL 800-B, PDL 800-D or PDL 828 'Sepia II' driver units.
The LDH-D series laser diode heads can be operated in both CW and pulsed mode. In CW operation, they emit up to 400 mW of output power, while in pulsed mode the performance is similar to the corresponding laser heads of the LDH-P series. This dual mode operation is only supported by the PDL 800-D and PDL 828 'Sepia II' drivers.
All laser heads emit a collimated elliptical beam with typical dimensions of 1.5 x 3.5 mm. They can be optionally fitted with single mode, polarisation maintaining single mode or multi-mode optical fibres through appropriate fibre couplers. Different fibre connectors at the fibre output are available (FC/PC, FC/APC and SMA).
