FQCW266 series lasers are single longitudinal mode CW deep UV lasers.

Models in the series have outputs at 266nm and powers range from 10-200mW. The FQCW-266 series are based around a diode-pumped solid-state laser with two frequency conversion stages. The fundamental radiation at 1064nm from the DPSS laser source is converted to 532nm in the second harmonic generator (SHG). This is a resonant external cavity with a patented design. The harmonic beam is then converted to 266nm in the fourth harmonic generator (FHG).

These lasers provide excellent beam quality, performance, control and reliability. They have excellent long-term amplitude stability (<1%) and low noise operation (<0.5%). Due to the single longitudinal mode operation, the bandwidth is extremely small and the coherence length is long.

Buttons on the front panel of the control unit provide local operation. The laser also operates via a PC in conjunction with the power supply controller. The controller has both RS232 and USB ports. A LabView interface is provided (CW266-control.vi) for control and adjustment of the laser parameters. As it is not always practical to install a pc with the system, you can also operate the laser and controller remotely using TTL inputs at the 15-pin service connector. In addition, the service connector gives access to an analogue output voltage that monitors the output power, TTL inputs to switch the laser on or off and TTL outputs for status information.

An automatic crystal shifter (ACS) increases the lifetime of the non-linear crystal inside the FHG unit. The laser head is contained in a sealed aluminium housing, which allows operation in a wide range of environmental conditions. Heat removal is via thermal conduction through a base plate or by air convection. Lasers in the FQCW266 series are very reliable and are suited to intensive R&D and production. Their low-maintenance, rugged design makes them ideal for incorporation into OEM systems.
