The 3D Histech digital microscopy solution produces an image of any glass slide that is as detailed as if you were looking down the microscope itself.

Simple to use

The live camera feature lets you preview the slide directly, equivalent to looking down the microscope. This lets you check that your sample looks acceptable and focuses well, before you run the scan. The live camera is particularly useful for fluorescence slides. You are able to verify both the sample location and the presence of a fluorescence signal before you scan the slide.

To give fast, automated, unattended operation, the scanner automatically detects the tissue and coverslip. The slide scanner then only scans the areas that contain tissue.

The Pannoramic scanners are compatible with the full range of Semrock fluorescence filters. They hold up to 9 filter cubes at once. Whichever fluorophores you use, automated imaging is possible.

Sharp, detailed images

The slide scanner captures thousands of images with the objective of the microscope at maximum magnification; each focused to gain as sharp and detailed an image as possible. Carl Zeiss Plan-ApoChromat objectives provide the best resolution, flatness and colour correction available to give you clear, detailed, high quality images. A high-speed digital camera acquires the images to create accurate, crisp virtual slides.

The z-stacking feature takes pictures of each image using multiple focus values. You can set the number of focus values and the difference between them. This ability means that you do not miss any details, particularly when scanning thicker samples and FISH slides.

Advanced image processing algorithms seamlessly stitch the images together. The extended focusing algorithm divides the z-stack pictures into small tiles and keeps the sharpest to create a single picture. Unlike some scanners, 3D Histech system virtual slides do not have gaps, lines or any other visible differences where images join.

Although the scanner is fully automated, the software allows you to tweak the capture settings. This enables you to configure the system for the best possible image quality when working with unusual or difficult samples.

Fast, efficient workflow

Each image section capture takes just milliseconds to execute, including repositioning and refocusing. In total, the average slide takes less than 3 minutes to scan. Once one virtual slide is complete, the next microscope slide scan begins within seconds.

The high-speed image compression algorithms save space while maintaining the image quality. The free virtual microscopy viewing software loads higher resolution images as you zoom in, to reveal finer detail. Because this makes loading times insignificant, you can view your virtual slides instantly.

Digital microscope slide navigation is quick and intuitive.

The bar code reader automatically identifies your slides. The scanner then gives an automatic choice of scan settings and save locations. This improves workflow as it helps to eliminate data entry errors and automate the scanning process.
