1080nm, wavelength tunable, pulsed programmable fibre laser delivering 1 mW of average output power in a benchtop format.

PL lasers are fully programmable picosecond fibre lasers. The platform uses dynamic cavity optics to achieve high-speed reconfiguration of the optical cavity. This gives these lasers unique high-speed wavelength and pulse parameter control.

These lasers provide a high degree of either wavelength tunability (product code prefix:- WA); pulse parameter variation (product code prefix:- PA); or both (product code prefix:- WPA).

These lasers deliver pulsed outputs of durations of the order of picoseconds. Average output powers range from 1mW to 1W at wavelengths: 752-785nm; 815-865nm, 1030-1130nm, 1250-1360nm; or 1525-1605nm. All combinations of emission wavelength and output powers are dependent on model.

As standard in the case of the PA products, the wavelength is fixed. For the WA & WPA models, wavelength tunability/sweeping is provided with high speed reconfigurability. Discrete wavelengths can be selected at a rate of 100k, 1M or 10M per second, depending on the option selected. The typical range of adjustment is 50-100nm (wavelength dependent), with a wavelength step size and resolution of typically 10pm.

In the case of the PA and the WPA versions, the pulse duration can be adjusted dynamically within one of three factory selected ranges; 20-40ps; 50-150ps; 150-500ps. In the case of the WA version, the pulse width is fixed in the range 20-500ps. The pulse repetition frequency is fully adjustable between 10MHz and 100MHz.

These lasers are provided in a benchtop format fully compatible with 240VAC single phase mains voltages. The front panel includes laser control lock, emergency shutdown, and laser status indication LEDs. The benchtop also comes complete with a USB computer interface, interlock, external signal outputs and master power switch.

The optical output is polarised and delivered through a singlemode polarisation preserving optical fibre terminated with an FC/APC connector, and located on the front panel of the unit.

A full software suite is provided for laser parameter adjustment and control. The software interface provides features such as wavelength setting; wavelength sweep setting; output power; synchronisation; interval; delay; and dither. This fully featured software interface is easy to use and highly intuitive.

Additional options include: an electrical trigger signal coincident with each wavelength change (code: WC); an electrical trigger with each optical pulse delayed by a user configurable amount (code: DL).

These lasers are ideally suited to the demands of swept wavelength applications such as a wide variety of spectroscopic techniques.
