In-House Technical Support Engineers, June 2014
Company Profile: Laser 2000 is a leading distributor of photonics and optoelectronics products, specifically lasers & light sources; optics & fluorescence filters; fiberoptics components, and test and measurement instruments. The products are used in a range of diverse applications from life-science research through to voice and data communications systems. The company provides high performance solutions to blue chip companies and research institutions throughout the world.
As a result of recent expansion, Laser 2000 has an immediate need for several additional In-House Technical Support Engineers.
Job Profile: Your role will be to provide technical support at all stages of contract negotiation, from pre-sales to quotation and post-sales support. Extensive product, technical and sales training will be provided at the induction phase and will be followed up by continuous development, both in the UK and abroad. The role is the starting point for a future career in the company. The opportunities within the company are great and progression to field sales, product management, and business development are likely for the successful candidates.
Qualifications/Skills required: You will have a degree in physics, laser physics, or a biological science. Applications are also welcomed from those with a degree or a degree level knowledge of fiberoptics or optical communications technology. Sales experience is an advantage but is not a necessity. You will be an outgoing and enthusiastic person who is comfortable meeting and talking to customers. You will have excellent communication and presentation skills, and be IT literate.
Residency: You must have the permanent right to work within the United Kingdom.
Salary: Starting salary is dependent on skills and experience but is typically £21,000 per annum for new graduates without experience. In addition, the company pays commission for performance that meets agreed individual targets of £4,000 per annum. The company also pays a discretionary bonus for performance that meets agreed all-company targets. This is forecast to be £3,000 for this year. In total, the starting package for a new graduate is ca. £28,000 OTE. After 6 months, the company will also contribute to a personal pension plan, and provide free private health insurance. Your future earnings are limited only by your ambition and your ability to meet mutually agreed performance targets.
Location: Huntingdon UK. You must be based in the area or be willing to relocate (relocation assistance provided).
